Calligraphy is the art of elegant handwriting & the word Calligrahy literally means beautiful writing. It is an artform.
Before the printing process was invented it was the way books were made; each copy handwritten by a scribe in a scriptorium. Quill & ink the tools and vellum or parchment received the lettering.
